JUST TO REITERATE: I DID NOT UPLOAD THIS TO GO "PUBLIC" AS SOME HAVE ACCUSED, I HAVE SIMPLY UPLOADED THIS TO SHARE TO FELLOW DEPRESSION SUFFERERS, SO IT MAY BE ABLE TO HELP THEM IN TIMES OF NEED! The media got hold of this and blew it all out of proportion saying "stephen fry saved my life" I was not suicidal and had no intention of even thinking about it! Bloody media tries to make everything dramatic!!
Basically 2006 is when I was seriously suffering from depression and I felt so alone and as if nobody cared about me, I had no idea who to turn to. But I really needed someone to confide in and to and to ease the pain. So I wrote to Stephen Fry because he is my hero, and he has been through this himself. And low and behold, he replied to my letter, I will love him eternally for this.
I though that I would upload this to give other people suffering from depression a chance to read the letter which helped me so much during the deepest days of my depression.
Hello! I realise this was uploaded some time ago, and maybe (hopefully) you've already moved on from that phase of your life but I just wanted to say thank you for putting this letter up at the expense of your own privacy, because it really does help. It is such a very generous sentiment to share something in hopes that other people might find meaning/solace in it, and I really appreciate it. Thank you.
I am glad you got this when you needed it; it is such an inspirational letter, and shows such compassion. Probably why I enjoy Stephen Fry so much. And it too speaks to me on a personal note. I hope that I can do the same for somebody if they need it. And can't help but wish someone had given me this advice many years ago...
I'm glad Stephen helped you, and I'm EXTREMELY thankful to you for uploading his words in that letter, in a way they've just helped me. also you made me love him like there's no tomorrow... x2!
Oh, the blasted media.
